Turning Identity Into an Experience

Graphic Design That Lives in the Environment

From environmental graphics and signage to wayfinding and brand expression, TK Architects creates visual systems that help destinations communicate, connect and stand apart. At TK Architects, graphic design isn’t separate from the places we design. It’s part of how people understand them.

A sign tells a guest where to go. A mural tells the story of a community. A branded wall turns an ordinary hallway into a moment people remember. Color, typography, imagery, signage and environmental graphics reinforce a client’s identity from the moment someone arrives until the moment they leave.

That matters most in cinemas, entertainment centers, restaurants and retail destinations, where many activities share one building. Guests need to understand where they are, what’s available and how to move from one experience to the next without stopping to think about it.

Our graphic designers work on the same team as the architects and interior designers shaping the space. Graphics are planned into the environment from the start, so they fit the architecture, suit the lighting and read clearly from where guests actually stand.

Good graphics go beyond the functional parts of the customer journey. Beyond directing traffic, they can connect a client’s brand with the surrounding community through murals, wall graphics, art, wall hangings and sculpture, giving a destination personality that a floor plan alone can’t provide. The result is a place that’s easier to use, easier to recognize and harder to forget.

Building a Visual Language

From Brand Identity to Physical Place

A brand becomes a place when every visual element works as one system. These are the building blocks.

Color

Extending the client’s palette through the environment and using color deliberately for identity, hierarchy and navigation.

Typography

Type carries personality. We keep it consistent and legible across signage, menus, walls and screens.

Imagery & Graphics

Photography, illustration, patterns and murals that establish character and give each area its own energy.

Materials & Application

How graphics become physical: dimensional letters, illuminated signs, glass, wall surfaces and displays.

Consistency

One visual system across every touchpoint. At Megaplex, the “Live Life Larger” line runs from the exterior mural to the bowling walls.

Signage + Wayfinding

Making Complex Destinations Easier to Navigate

A single TK project can hold auditoriums, a restaurant, a bar, an arcade, bowling, restrooms and lounges. Here’s how graphics guide guests through one real lobby.

Identification

Where am I? Large, lit lettering names the main destination from across the lobby.

Directional

Where am I going? Signs point guests toward the auditoriums and other attractions.

Amenities

Restrooms and services are easy to find without asking.

Informational

Menu boards and queue signs answer questions before guests reach the counter.

Branded Destinations

Venues within the venue, like a grill or bar, get their own identity.
Good wayfinding is invisible when it works. Guests simply know where to go. That takes planning: sightlines, sign heights, lighting, viewing distances and the order guests encounter each message all have to be considered together with the architecture.

In multi-attraction destinations, wayfinding also shapes the business. Clear paths move crowds efficiently at peak times, and well-placed destination signage draws guests toward the bar, the arcade or the next experience they didn’t know they wanted.

Environmental Storytelling

Creating a Place That Belongs Where It Is

Not every cinema, entertainment venue or restaurant should feel like it could be dropped into any city in America.

Environmental graphics can connect a destination to its surroundings. Local history, landmarks, culture and stories become part of the space, giving guests something recognizable, unexpected or simply worth remembering.

When those elements are thoughtfully incorporated into the overall design, they can give each location a personality of its own while still supporting the larger brand. Graphics can define gathering areas, bring character to transitional spaces and create visual connections between the destination and the community it serves.

That might be a large-scale mural, custom artwork, a graphic pattern or a dimensional installation. Increasingly, it’s a moment designed to invite interaction, the spot guests stop to take a photo and share it.

Large-Scale Murals

Artwork at architectural scale that turns a façade or wall into a landmark.

Themed Environments

A space-age, glow-in-the-dark mini golf course where the graphics are the attraction.

Photo Moments

Dimensional pieces designed for guests to stop, pose and share.

Environmental Graphics

Designed on Screen. Experienced in the Real World.

Our graphics don’t live in a design file. They end up 20 feet wide, illuminated, mounted overhead or wrapped around a wall, and they have to work there.

Illuminated

Reel Sizzle’s diner logo, built as a glowing dimensional sign.

Mounted Overhead

Mendocino Farms’ pick-up sign, sized and hung to read across the room.

Built Into the Architecture

Megaplex auditorium numbers, scaled to the wall and lit to stand out.

01

Scale

A logo that looks right on a screen can disappear on a 60-foot wall. We design for the size it will actually be built.

02

Legibility

Type size, contrast and spacing are set for the real viewing distance, whether that's 3 feet or 100.

03

Placement

Signs are located where guests look, in line with sightlines, ceiling heights and traffic flow.

04

Fabrication

Designs are detailed so sign shops can build them accurately, on budget and on schedule.

05

Material

Metal, acrylic, vinyl, glass or paint, each chosen for the look, the location and how long it needs to last.

06

Lighting

Illuminated letters, backlighting and neon are coordinated with the room's lighting so graphics glow instead of glare.

Part of the Bigger Picture

Graphics Designed With the Space, Not Added After It

TK’s graphic designers work alongside the team designing the architecture and interiors. Signage, environmental graphics and branded elements are planned as part of the environment, so they support the overall design story instead of competing with it.
